K51 AG

Decarbonization
in focus

We connect high performance computing (heat production) with greenhouses, hotels or industrial plants (heat demand).

Our mission

We are revolutionizing energy use in industry to create a better future for the next generation. Harnessing and reusing waste heat instead of relying on fossil fuels is our mission!

Our promise

We guarantee a 100% renewable energy supply and ensure that 97% of the heat from HPC's is used as fossil-free heat at each site! Innovative, ecological, economical.

Vision

When we look back in 2050, we want to have made a significant contribution to global decarbonization. The K51 Green Computing Network shall go down in history as a decarbonization champion.

Facts

With the global rise in energy-related CO2 emissions, heating homes and industries is becoming one of the biggest environmental and economic challenges - consuming up to 63% of total heating energy in the EU and 43% in the US. The impact on electricity prices caused by recent geopolitical events has only exacerbated this problem.

HPC has become increasingly important in various industries such as finance, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), scientific research, and others. The demand for these applications requires large amounts of computing power and consequently leads to a rapid increase in power consumption. According to recent estimates, Internet traffic doubles every 2.4 years and AI computing power doubles every 3.4 months, leading to increased global demand for data centers, which today already consume up to 200 TWh per year - equivalent to about 1% of global electricity consumption. Of this, around 40% is wasted in the form of waste heat, i.e. released into the atmosphere.

With this waste alone, you can decarbonize Switzerland 2x!

For whom are we building the K51 network?

For the environment and all companies and organizations that want or need to actively reduce their energy costs and fossil footprint.
